Clarendon County Disabilities and Special Needs Board operates a community Adult Day Services program providing individuals with disabilities and special needs the opportunity for community involvement, career preparation, employment services and personal care assistance. Based on the individual's interest, the Day Services program offers the following:
CAREER PREPERATION prepares participants for the work force through exposure to and experience with various careers. Participants learn such concepts as compliance, attendance, task completion, problem solving, safety, self-determination, and self-advocacy. Services are not job-task oriented, but instead are aimed at a generalized result.
EMPLOYMENT SERVICES Intensive, on-going supports for participants who are likely to become competitively employed without assistance. These individuals, because of their disabilities, need support to perform in a regular work setting. Employment services are conducted in a variety of settings, particularly work sites where persons with disabilities are employed and include activities such as supervision and training needed to sustain paid work.
COMMUNITY SERVICES is aimed at developing one’s awareness of, interaction with, and/or participation in the community through exposure to and experience in the community and through teaching such concepts as self-determination, self-advocacy, socialization, and the accrual of social capital. Services are provided in facilities licensed by the state.
DAY ACTIVITIES SERVICES are supports & services provided in therapeutic settings to enable participants to achieve, maintain, improve, or decelerate the loss of personal care, social, and adaptive skills. Services are provided in non-residential settings that are licensed by the state.
